I agree with the comments recently made by GulfWeekly’s film reviewer that actor Leonardo DiCaprio has been outstanding in his recent movie performances.

He may be one of the most famous names currently in Hollywood and more than once he has reported to have said that he isn’t in the industry for the fame but is more interested in the way he feels emotionally about each performance.

Up until now he has constantly slipped up when receiving the ultimate accolade, losing out time and time again at the final hurdle at the Oscars. At the weekend it will be his sixth nomination, this time for his work in The Revenant.

This happens to be one of my favourite movies of the past five years. It is a masterpiece by Alejandro Inarritu telling the harrowing story of Hugh Glass, played by Leonardo.

The US frontiersman is seriously hurt following a bear attack and it turns out to be a riveting story of survival and revenge on the men who left him behind.

After that amazing performance I dread to think what would become of Leonardo if he lost out again at the awards ceremony. I respect many of the other actors he is up against … but they didn’t have to sleep in a real horse carcass to get to the awards show. Just give him the Oscar.
