Abstract artist Ella Prakash’s latest series of expressive paintings focusing on feminism and self-discovery is set to be unveiled next Thursday at her gallery in Adliya.

The Bahrain-based Indian artist’s solo exhibition, called Quest - Inner Self II, is made up of 18 acrylic canvases that showcase the different stages a woman endures to find herself.

Ella, 54, from Adliya, who is the ambassador to Bahrain for Arts for India, said: “In my latest collection of paintings, I highlight the different stages that women go through in discovering their inner self.

“I have tried to include a few aspects of my personal experiences as well in the creation of the stages that I believe best explain the quest from my perspective. The series starts with ‘In Search of my Soul’ and slowly progresses through various paintings. Each emotion is vital in reaching the final stage ‘Found my Soul’. I have also touched upon the themes of solitude, acceptance, happiness and the circle of life in the works displayed.

“This theme is quite different from my previous exhibits as I have used limited palette and technique and it is very abstract. I expressed my emotions through colours and technique. Each work is very dear to me and I am overwhelmed with the outcome as they were an exact representation of my idea.”

Ella, who has 14 years of experience in abstract expressionism and figurative art, has always been a supporter of women empowerment and has depicted strong female figures within her past pieces of work. Her art has been featured in various local and international solo and group exhibitions including in the UK, US, Germany and, of course, India, to name a few.

She said: “I am inspired by life – my experience, travels and emotions. However, my work is dedicated to amazing women from every corner of the world. I want my work to empower them no matter where they come from. Women sacrifice so much in their lives and I want to celebrate their achievements and their dedication and commitment to the society at large.”

Her creations have also made quite an impression in the global art scene. London’s Debut Contemporary Art Gallery selected her to exhibit work to compliment luxury lifestyle and homeware designer Claire Gaudion’s latest offerings.

Her paintings were transformed into colourful cushions and other lifestyle products entitled Ella Impressions.

Motivated by her recent collaborations and achievements, Ella aims to share her own success tips with other artists in the kingdom by staging a series of seminars throughout the year. Entitled Vision for Art Success, the seminars will shed light on the key aspects to business in art and how to build a powerful art career.

She said: “My aim and vision is to help emerging and upcoming artists, to mentor them with powerful tools in relation to business how they can progress their art career in a successful way, set mastery goals and to create epic success, in their art field.

“I have seen and witnessed many artists struggling to achieve success; most of them give up their passion midway. I will guide them through my experiences and knowledge.”

The seminars will take place at Ella Art Gallery where her solo show will be staged. Her latest art pieces start from BD650. A private viewing will be held on May 26 and the exhibition will be open to the public from 10am to 7pm on May 27-30.
