Global ICT solutions provider Huawei Bahrain has kicked-off the second phase of its internship programme this year.

The students welcomed from multiple universities across Bahrain will be mentored and coached by experts and assigned experiential projects specially curated as a part of the initiative.

Feng Nan Paul, Huawei Bahrain’s Country Manager, said its programme was designed in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, providing a clear direction for the continued development of the kingdom. 'We believe in applying our human resources for the development of local talent in various disciplines who will in turn support the region’s economic growth,' he added.

The interns, pictured above with their tutors, will be assigned with tasks that entail rational probing, independent initiative, advanced research skills and fieldwork amongst others.

The aim is to allow them to adopt these practical skillsets to able them to be more competitive in the local market. The internship helps to bridge the gap between what is learned and what is practiced in the workplace, the company says.

The Huawei Internship Programme hosted a number of students from Bahrain Polytechnic earlier this year. The intern’s past projects focused on a variety of network technologies and solutions to help telecommunications operators expand the capacity of mobile networks.

Former Huawei intern, Zainab Al Saeed, for example, has developed a VoIP Fraud Call Detection Tool during her internship period, which was awarded the ‘Project of the Year’ accolade by Bahrain Polytechnic.

She said: 'It was a privilege to have our first experience in the real world with Huawei experts who are devoted in helping and guiding us. It was truly a beneficial internship as we gained immense hands-on experience by working on technical projects and delivering valuable results.'
