Fourth School Mini Olympics on the table

Preparations are under way for the Fourth School Mini Olympics, which is scheduled to take place in April.


The fourth edition of the event will be organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) in cooperation with theMinistry of Education and will involve schools from across the kingdom.


They will compete in various sporting events, including table tennis, athletics, aquathlon, triathlon, volleyball, 3-on-3 basketball, swimming and jiu jitsu.


This was announced at the first coordination meeting of the organising committee with representatives of the involved sports federations.


Organising committee chairman Lounes Madenechaired the meeting, which was also attended by BOC representatives Fadi Humaidman,Mamoon Al Khateeb and Rashid Ebrahim.


Madene revealed an initiative to invite GCC National Olympic Committees to take part in some of the Mini Olympics events this year, including table tennis, jiu jitsu, swimming and aquathlon.


A number of suggestions and recommendations, submitted by representatives of the sports federations, where also discussed at the meeting, in an attempt to set up the initial steps for this year’s event.


The School Mini Olympics aims to promote the concept of public health and creating a competitive sports environment among students, spreading knowledge and physical education among the younger generation.


Italso seeks to promote the principles of Olympic values and ideals as well as to motivate young athletes and encourage young people to follow a healthy lifestyle.
