Manama Theatre Club is hosting its ‘Improv Sessions’ on February 6 and February 20 from 7-9pm.

 

The Rotary Club of Manama is hosting its annual ‘Kick for a Cause’ football tournament on February 17 at the Bahrain Rugby Football Club. The event will start at 3pm.


THE annual Autumn Fair is set to open its doors to shoppers today at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre featuring a variety of textiles, electronics, lighting fixtures, carpets, jewellery, specialty foods and furnishings spread over three halls.


Entry is 800 fils and children under the age of nine will be admitted for free.


The exhibition runs until February 2 and doors will open from noon-10pm today, from 10am-2pm and 4pm-10pm tomorrow, from noon-10pm on Friday, from 10am-2pm and 4pm-10pm on January 28, 29, 30 and 31, and from 10am-10pm on February 1 and 2. Ladies-only mornings will be held on Sunday and Monday.

Friday brunch result!


ONE of Bahrain’s most popular sports bars is launching its first-ever Friday Brunch to add a piece of ‘Wemb-glee’ to the kingdom’s dining out scene.


Wembley Sports Bar is expecting a capacity crowd of food-lovers at the venue, located at the fourth floor of The Premier Hotel, the popular four-star property in the heart of Juffair.


The Wembley team of chefs promise ‘the freshest Friday Brunch ever’ when they kick-off this Friday, from 12.30pm to 4pm.


The venue’s new manager, Steve George, said: “Wembley really is a fantastic venue, with charismatic customers all enjoying the great food and beverages, top live sporting action and also live entertainment throughout the week, alongside very reasonable prices.


“It really is an exciting time as we are expanding our weekly entertainment line-up to include karaoke, a huge Quiz Night on Wednesdays starting soon and much more.  Of course, we are all hyped up about our very first Friday Brunch starting this Friday featuring great food, at a great price with great live entertainment.”


Entertainment throughout the day will be provided by one of the most exciting live acts on the island – UK-based trio Old Street Blues, pictured right.


The band, founded at a blues jam at London’s celebrated White Horse in Hoxton, has just arrived in Bahrain, playing fresh arrangements of classic standards, contemporary rhythm & blues and original material. 


Old Street Blues is made up of Jacob Brookman, who has played the stages of Kentish Town Forum, Sage Gateshead and Glastonbury Festival, whose debut dancehall album under the moniker Rotty Chimes is available now on iTunes, vocalist Michelle Hanson, who started her music career in an R&B girl band with Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud, and Kaan Hills, a former member of the seven-piece ska outfit, The Costellos.


“Wembley is open daily from noon right through to 2am, so there is no excuse not to pop along with your friends and experience a fresh attitude to food, sport and entertainment,” added Steve. 

Friday Brunch is priced at just BD19 net for an unlimited food and selected beverages package. There will be a large range of international cuisine with live cooking stations & carvery, salads, pasta, desserts and more. A night market and special menus have been unveiled to commemorate the Year of the Rooster at Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay.


re/Asian Cuisine by Wolfgang Puck will ring in Chinese New Year with a one-night-only dining experience that will include an array of festive dishes prepared to perfection honouring the event on Friday from 6pm until midnight. The Night Market will be enhanced with live cooking stations creating an authentic atmosphere both in the restaurant and in the adjacent Blue Moon Lounge by Wolfgang Puck.


Executive Chef Brian Becher has created a one-of-a-kind menu and the entire evening is priced at BD32 per person including beverages.


From Friday to February 8, the restaurant will offer special five or seven course Chinese New Year tasting priced at BD35 (five-course menu) and BD50 (seven-course menu).
