Gulf Weekly Lanceley launches himself to the top spot

Jim Lanceley won the second round of the Audi Quattro Cup Series at the Royal Golf Club (RGC) with 36 stableford points, propelling himself to the top of the series order of merit with 69 points and pushing last month’s winner, Sam Hobday, into second place on the leader board with 64 points.



Ali Al Hakam narrowly clinched the runners-up spot in the February qualifier on count back with 34 points. Nasser Yaqoob and Rehman Tipu won the 2s Club on hole 12 and Steven Hill won on hole 16.

A field of over 50 players turned out to do battle in the series which will be played out over a total of six rounds at the RGC. The series winners of the Bahrain tournament will have an opportunity to go forward and compete in the world finals, which this year will be held at the Quivira Golf Club in Cabo San Luca, Mexico, in December.

With more than 100,000 players competing in 750 tournaments in 54 countries annually, the Audi Quattro Cup has developed into the biggest worldwide amateur golf tournament series.
