I grew up listening to my mother saying ‘everything comes in threes’ and if I’m honest, I do find myself repeating this same phrase … as long as this isn’t an indication that I’m turning into my mother in my older age!
Only the other day I caught the husband inadvertently rolling his eyes at me when I said it. I think his fear of me turning into my mother may be even greater than my own.
Anyway, it was one of those weeks when I found myself in three different hospitals in Bahrain due to various ailments affecting our family. I have discovered, like in previous expat postings, that you have to track down the doctor you require and on this occasion they are often based in different locations.
How do you find out which doctor to make an appointment with in the first place?
In my experience recommendations from friends is generally the way to go or research the online forums, there are a number of great ones to guide you.
After three late nights in three different hospitals searching for reception – insurance – accounts – admissions – X-ray – laboratory – consultation rooms – pharmacy – back to insurance – oh, and back to accounts, I’d had more than my fill of hospitals.
So let’s hope my dear old mother was right and that I won’t be making a fourth trip any time soon.
