Ali Baslar won the second and final round of the Bahrain SSWS Ramadan Challenge, held last Monday night at Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC) in Sakhir.
Baslar managed to eke out a fine victory in the meeting’s 15-lap final race, held along BIKC’s 1.414km Commission Internationale de Karting Track.
He finished just 0.192 seconds clear of runner-up Rashid Khalifa while Abdulla Buhindi came a close third 0.302 seconds behind the winner.
Yousif Khamiri was classified fourth, Abubaker Ali was fifth and Khaled Alsaie sixth. Abdulla Al Thawadi and Talal Beshara rounded out the top eight.
A packed grid of 25 karters took part in the event. Alsaie had a positive start to the action. He set the pace in Qualifying and took pole position for the Pre-Final, which he won ahead of Buhindi and Khaled Abdulla.
With the results, five karters came away with valuable prizes. They emerged following the points they had accumulated from both the challenge’s rounds.
Buhindi banked on his victory in round one and was classified in first place with 70 points, followed by Alsaie with 67 markers. Khalifa followed in third place with 46 points, Abdulla was fourth on 41 and Abubaker Ali finished fifth on 48 markers.
Buhindi, Alsaie and Khalifa each won a Clio Cup Experience from Bahrain International Circuit; whereas Abdulla and Ali each won a free test in a Rotax Max kart, courtesy of BIKC.
The Bahrain SSWS Ramadan Challenge was a first-of-its-kind competition organised by BIKC.
