ONE of the centre pieces of Jewellery Arabia 2017 will be Bahrain-based Al Zain Jewellers stunning Cascade of Dreams rumoured to be worth more than a staggering two million dollars (approximately BD75,000 - BD80,000) … although officially the makers are keeping tight-lipped about its value.

As the old saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and, in some circumstances, the size of their wallet.

The stunning piece of jewellery was unveiled to an invited and excitable audience at Gallery 21 on Sunday evening displayed in a glass cabinet and watched over by a burly security guard.

Laced with 1,970 Bahraini pearls, eight rare Colombian emeralds and a staggering 12,826 diamonds, its makers described it as a ‘true object of pristine mastery and opulence’.

Theo Swart, CEO of Al Zain, teased: “How much does it cost you asked? Let us just say that for a person wishing to buy such a rare piece of art, price is normally not the first thought that comes to mind, instead it is trying to deal with an overwhelming sense of ‘how badly do I want it?” That takes precedence in one’s mind. Thus, ultimately, price is not an issue.”

Well, the lucky lady who walks away wearing the Cascade of Dreams around her neck will either have a bank balance to match or a gentleman in her life who treasures her enormously and, either way, she will be feeling more than a million dollars after the exhibition.

“It’s really stunning,” said one lady at the unveiling from a prominent local family, who asked not to be named. “It would go very well with my dress for our planned National Day party.”

Delighted with the response, Al Zain, with origins in the industry dating back to the 1930s, believes the piece is a regal and luxurious tribute to the art of jewellery making and is a strong testament of the craftsmanship that the company has established and maintained over generations.

Theo added: “It’s a proud moment for any jeweller to be able to present a piece that is able to capture the very essence of what the particular brand wishes to be known and recognised for.

“It pushes all boundaries, forces the utmost in creativity and at the same time unrivaled discipline from all to maintain which Al Zain is so well known for - masters of design and creation.

“When we first laid eyes on Cascade of Dreams we were all speechless for a few seconds, we were totally intoxicated by its beauty and splendour. It is a masterpiece so breathtakingly beautiful and mesmerising that for just an instant one is transported to a waterfall filled with dazzling diamonds and pearls that seems to cascade into an endless pool of green emerald waters.

“It is theatrical in every sense, it stimulates one’s senses and I can only imagine what an invigorating feeling it will be for the one very special person in this world that will have the privilege of wearing this piece.”

Following the ceremony, Cascade of Dreams was transferred to the Al Zain stand at Jewellery Arabia where it will be displayed privately at Bahrain International Exhibition Centre and Conferences in its own podium and separated from the rest of the stand where it’s imposing and overwhelming presence is proving to be a crowd puller.
