Whisperer

THEY look like any old bread cake but there’s more to them that meets the eye.

For hidden inside is scrumptious scrambled egg and the dough delights are selling like hotcakes at The Planet Bakery & Café in Hoora at just 300fils a time.

The Whisperer obviously appreciates that it’s not unusual for jam to somehow be inserted into a doughnut … but is this the first ever ready-made breakfast in a bun?

The roll is a small, often round, loaf of bread believed to have been created during the 16th Century and is said to have been originally eaten in England.

Across the UK, there are many regional names originating from bakers who named them according to the method they used to make them, their size and how they were baked.

Those names include baps, barms, muffins and cobs … so guess what this Bahrain sensation is called? Sadly, simply ‘Egg Bread’.

I’m sure GulfWeekly readers can come up with something much more original. Our generous editor has promised to buy one for the reader who comes up with what he considers to be the best name … please email your suggestions!
