Whisperer

IT would appear that the prayers of a nation have been answered with the news that Liverpool and Egypt forward Mohamed Salah is ‘confident’ of playing in the World Cup Finals after suffering a shoulder injury in the Champions League Final defeat by Real Madrid.

Salah, 25, left the pitch in Kiev in tears after a first-half challenge with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos. “Your love and support will give me the strength I need,” said Salah.

The Egyptian FA said that the player’s X-ray showed he had a ‘sprain in the shoulder ligaments’ and that it was ‘optimistic’ he would be fit for Russia.

The fans are not the only ones with their fingers crossed that Salah makes a full recovery before Egypt play their first game of the World Cup in Russia on June 15 against Uruguay.

DHL Express, the world’s leading express logistics provider with regional headquarters in Bahrain, has signed a strategic partnership for the footballer to become its brand ambassador for the Middle East and North Africa for the next two years.

CEO of DHL in the MENA region, Nour Suliman, expressed his pride in collaborating with Salah, and praised his ‘cooperative spirit and great personality that inspires many people around the globe’.

Salah was equally delighted: “I’m very proud to be the first individual player to partner with DHL,” he said, “and I’m very happy to collaborate with an international brand.”

The Whisperer wishes him a speedy recovery too and hopes he’ll be flying down the wing in Russia and delivering a hatful of goals, hopefully getting the chance to nutmeg Spain’s Ramos before slotting home in style. Sweet revenge.
