Covering up has never looked this good! Artists from across the region have banded together to paint picture perfect designs on Annada’s silk abayas to mark the upcoming Eid celebrations.

The first AlAbaya line turned heads at last year’s Jewellery Arabia with the aim of providing ‘functional design, carefully curated prints and high quality materials with elements of romance and wonder’.

This year, the luxury-lifestyle Bahraini brand’s second collection aims to highlight the beauty of the Arabian woman with work created by celebrated artists Abbas Al Mosawi, Mayasa Al Sowadi and Ghassan Mohsin from Bahrain, Nouf Semari from Saudi Arabia and Amira Behbehani from Kuwait.

Founders of the company, Nada and Noor Alawi, are delighted with the outcome, saying that the themes emphasised on the abayas highlight the beauty of women, pretty landscapes, serene scenery and a rich and diverse Middle Eastern culture.

“We dedicate this collection to the modern woman,” said Nada “We wanted to pamper her with aesthetics meeting comfort and practicality. The artworks featured in the collection create different vibes and emotions throughout and we’re confident women will relate to them.”

The abaya brand also breaks the norm of monochromatic style with black joined by white and beige, with additional colours and patterns allowing every piece to stand out on its own.

Noor added: “What excites me about this collection is that the abayas are functional as well as fun!  The silk lightness is perfect for the summer and all of them are reversible and equipped with hidden pockets.

“Those three qualities are met with colour and art. It really brings up a blissful feeling to see customers styling the Annada Abaya in different ways to match their tastes and personalities.”

Annada, which was launched by the sisters in 2011, has developed close ties with artistic collaborators over the past six years. Famous for its silk scarves, the pair also compiled a series of winter scarves, belts and buckles, leather jackets, jewellery and stationary products.

The collective has been awarded the Bahraini Female Entrepreneur Honour by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka, President of the Supreme Council for Women, and been nominated for The Bahrain Award for Entrepreneurship.

The Annada flagship boutique is located at Seef Mall.
