BOUNCING baby Huzaifah’s arrival marked a special celebration … he became the 5,000th child to be delivered at the Royal Bahrain Hospital (RBH).

The handsome boy weighed in at 3.98kg to bring joy to parents Alia and Faisal Shabbir and a brother to four-year-old, Ahmed.

This week he returned to the seven-year-old hospital’s state-of-the-art maternity unit for a routine check-up and photo-call after arriving at 8.18am on June 18, 2018.

Pakistani expats Faisal, 39, who is the head of recruitment at Huawei Technology, and Alia, 36, were delighted that happy Huzaifah was a celebrity child.

Faisal said: “We were so surprised. Staff members had told us they had a surprise to share with us in a few minutes after his birth. All of a sudden, hospital management and several other people walked into our room with flowers and chocolates and began to congratulate us on Huzaifah being the 5,000th baby to be delivered at Royal Bahrain.

“It was already such a wonderful feeling when I saw him - especially as I missed my first son’s birth as my wife was back home in Pakistan. I was due to fly back but Ahmed decided to come 10 days early!

“To be a part of Huzaifah’s delivery was great and seeing him was so amazing. It’s a feeling I cannot explain and now he will always be remembered too for his milestone arrival at the hospital.”

Alia woke up at 3am with contractions and within minutes Faisal rushed her to the hospital leaving Ahmed with his grandparents Shabbir Asghar and Basharat, who were visiting from Lahore.

Alia, who had hoped for a natural child birth, had to undergo an emergency Caesarean section after complications set in. “It was a difficult delivery unfortunately.” She explained. “I was so happy when he was born and when I heard him cry I started crying myself I was so overjoyed.”

Huzaifah measured 53cm tall when he was born and one month later he’s doing fine.

The maternity unit members were delighted to welcome him to the world and are glad that the parents enjoyed their stay with them.

Faisal said: “The experience at Royal Hospital was wonderful with such excellent service and care. We felt so at home.”

The hospital’s Obstetrics & Gynecology department has a glowing reputation. Its medical team specialises in everything from high-risk pregnancy and infertility issues to complete care for women during any stage of their life through pre-marital check-ups to menopause diagnosis and management.

Other services include day care, laparoscopic surgeries, gynecology procedures and surgeries, antenatal care, perinatology, pregnancy, labour and postpartum care, in addition to comprehensive new-born procedures and tests.

Dr Sheriff Sahadulla, chief executive officer, KIMS Healthcare Group, said: “We’re delighted to have reached 5,000 births at Royal Bahrain Hospital.

“I would like to thank the medical team for their dedication and all the new mothers and their families for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this joyous time in their lives.”

The hospital is also accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI) and is the first clinic in Bahrain to be awarded Diamond by the National Health Regulatory Authority.
