The Gulf Hotels Group donated a bus fully equipped to transport children with special needs to Bahrain Mobility International (BMI), a social organisation committed to providing services for the differently abled.
The bus, which comes fully equipped with a chair lift and wheelchair restraints, was presented by the group’s CEO Garfield Jones to chairman of Bahrain Mobility International, Adel Sultan Al Mutawa, in the presence of the Centre’s Board Member, Mohammed Saad and general manager of Gulf Hotel Bahrain Convention & Spa, Fares Yactine.
Adel emphasised: “The generous donation will contribute to achieving the objectives of the Centre and will enhance our capabilities to provide necessary services for the rehabilitation and training of children with disabilities ensuring their successful integration into society.”
The bus will be used for the transportation of physically challenged children from their homes across Bahrain to the centre where they will be receiving education, physiotherapy and rehabilitation therapy all free of charge.
Established in 1979, BMI caters to the needs of people with disabilities. It is a non-profit, non-political and non-government rights, advocacy and representative organisation of and for all people with disabilities.
The organisation’s Bahraini Centre for International Mobility in Isa Town aims to integrate disabled people with mobility and developmental limitations in the local and international community.
Garfield praised the role of BMI and their efforts in cultivating the skills of differently abled children and supporting their holistic development. He added: “As part of the Gulf Hotels Group’s corporate social responsibility programme, the group is always keen to support organisations that provide valuable services to the community and spread values of social solidarity and charitable humanitarian work”
This is the latest in the group’s CSR initiatives. Gulf Hotels Group supports a big number of local charitable organisations that offer valuable services and contributions to the disabled, senior citizens and social services in the kingdom.
