One of my elementary students asked me: “Ms Noor? Are we going to get the coronavirus?” It’s somewhat funny that at such a young age, children even know what’s going on. We really can’t escape the coronavirus!
As far as we know, the simplest habits like washing your hands could mean the difference between catching it and not. It’s funny to think that a habit that was drilled into us as children would be so vital to our health.
Turn on any news channel and one story dominates them all – the infiltration of corona all over the world including in Bahrain. Unfortunately, more than a few casualties have occurred. Although that is beyond tragic, what is more tragic in my mind is, no one knows how this started. We are unaware of the origin of this virus which makes it that more difficult to avoid getting it.
There is an old adage which goes like this: “Lighting never strikes (the same place) twice”, which essentially means the highly unlikely thing never happens to the same person twice. Unfortunately, this is not the case with corona because news reports have stated that people, who have gotten the virus and recovered from it, can get it again in the future. The body does not become immune after infection and it can lay dormant. Stay safe out there people.
