Food loving Raw Candy sisters Sophie, Phoebe and Olivia Middleton are spreading a healthy dose of vegan happiness following the launch of its ‘Made in Bahrain’ nut butters at LuLu Hypermarket, located at The Atrium Mall and Towers in Saar.

The gluten-free, refined sugar-free and dairy-free spreads are available in two sizes, as 120 gram priced BD3.190 and 290 gram at BD6.290, and feature flavours such as coconut cashew, chocolate hazelnut and more.

Olivia, Raw Candy’s marketing manager and front of house, was present at last week’s launch alongside Stuart Furlonger, LuLu Bahrain’s regional operations manager. She said: “We are so happy to be a part of the Lulu family and to expand our customer base. We are proud to be a 100 per cent ‘Made in Bahrain’ product and extremely grateful for LuLu’s support.

“At the moment we are available in the Saar branch and we hope to expand to other branches in the very near future. The nut butters are the perfect start to our journey with them!”

The artisan vegan chocolate bar & café first established a name for itself six years ago as ‘a labour of love’, as co-founders and owners Sophie and Phoebe described; offering ‘naked food’ featuring no added ‘rubbish’, namely refined sugars, chemicals or preservatives.

“We add a vegan spin to your favourite snacks and goodies,” explained Olivia. “The whole concept is to show customers that you don’t have to be vegan to enjoy vegan food.

“We’re creating beautiful food without any of the nasties and we want to show the world that simple pure ingredients are all you need! Vegan food is just good food and it’s for everyone.”

Raw Candy, based on the mezzanine floor of Almoayyed Tower in Seef district, now with a team of 14, started with creating 100 per cent raw vegan cakes and healthy versions of classic offerings.

Their chocolates were also a big hit and soon the chefs began producing more bites and treats.

“Over the last three years, we have expanded our menu into items such as sourdough pizzas and all-day breakfast items including pancakes, fritters, soups and sandwiches,” said Olivia. “We have smoothies, smoothie bowls and will be expanding our bakery section soon. We make fresh baked bagels and sourdough loaves daily, cookies, chocolates and, of course, our infamous vegan chocolates.”

Raw Candy’s dine-in eatery opened its doors in September and the team has more concepts in the pipeline.

Olivia added: “We would like to say ‘thank you’ to all of our incredible supporters; thank you for believing in us and for giving us the strength to keep pushing forward!”
