Avatar fans can rejoice as the sequel will be coming to the kingdom on December 15.

Avatar: The Way of Water will take audiences back to Pandora and is sure to be another visually stunning watch, as shown in both the first teaser and the main trailer.

James Cameron’s plan was for the sequel to kick-start a run of movies every other year until Avatar 5 in December 2028.

However, he later said that if his second Avatar doesn’t do well or ‘underperforms’, then the plan is to end the series with Avatar 3.

With the first Avatar breaking records, expectations are high for the second and this is what moviegoers can expect for the timebeing.

The sequel started filming in 2017 and it’s a mix of live-action with motion capture elements…which is why it took so long.

It was also delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Also, strap in for the long haul as the film has a runtime of 190 minutes, that’s three hours and 10 minutes – which James says is necessary as there are ‘more characters to service’.

And while fans take in the colourful cinematography and storyline, James will continue working on the other films.

He apparently had already filmed parts of Avatar 4 in December last year. Although he might not direct Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, he still teased that the former is a ‘corker’.

“I actually hope I get to make it,” he told Empire, adding that it also depended on market forces.
“Three is in the can, so it’s coming out regardless,” he told the digital movie magazine. “I really hope we get to make four and five, because it’s one big story, ultimately.”
