Bahrain’s music scene just got a fresh burst of Afrobeat energy, thanks to Charles Clay, better known by his stage name Clayze.
The passionate music enthusiast has stepped into the spotlight with the release of his debut single and music video, Chance.
The rhythmic celebration of love pulses with vibrant Afrobeat grooves and heartfelt lyrics, capturing the spark of new romance and the magic of emotional connection.
“From an early age, music has been my constant companion, shaping my dreams and fuelling my passion,” the American, who works as a quality control manager in a private firm, told GulfWeekly.
“Recording and sharing my own single and music is a milestone I have dreamed about for years, and I am overjoyed to see it come to fruition.”
Charles, who moved to Bahrain in 2020, said his affair with music and unwavering belief in the power of love inspired him to write the song.
“The single, rooted in the vibrant rhythms of Afrobeat, was recorded in Manama, while the music video was brought to life in Nairobi, Kenya, in July,” he explained.
Shot in one day, the video reflects the ‘dedication and excitement behind the project’.
“It was filmed using a Sony Large Frame Cinematic Camera to ensure high-quality visuals,” he noted, adding that he chose Kenya as the location because he wanted Rodman, a well-known producer in Kenya, to help him film the music video.
He also collaborated with Yabaangelosi, a respected artist and producer from South Sudan who is currently based in Bahrain.
“The entire process of the song – from start to finish – took several months,” he said.
Charles’ biggest challenge was balancing his professional commitments with his passion for music.
“However, seeing it all come together has been incredibly rewarding, and the release of the song is my way of sharing the magic of love, especially new love.
“I hope listeners are swept up in the warmth and energy of the song, and that it brings a sense of joy and connection to those who hear it.”

Looking to the future, Charles hopes to release more music and is currently working on his first solo album.
