A CHILDREN’S book imparting financial literacy has hit the shelves, offering important lessons in wealth creation and character building.
Indian expatriate and author Vaishali Varia, who works as a business, financial and logistics consultant in Bahrain, wrote The Wealth Wizard, inspired by her dinner table conversations with her 11-year-old daughter Krishna.
“Like most children, she would ask innocent but surprisingly thoughtful questions about money,” the 45-year-old told GulfWeekly.
“It made me realise that children are naturally curious about money, just like any other new subject and can understand the concepts if we as parents can explain it to them in a relatable and easy way,” she added.
“One of the biggest challenges was simplifying the concepts without making them superficial so I kept going back to the basics: how would I explain this to a child.”
The Bahrain resident of seven years, who often gives talks on financial literacy for children and women, believes in hands-on experience.
“My husband and I have always made it a point to involve Krishna in basic household chores and shopping,” she said, noting that there is no such thing as ‘too early’ when it comes to money matters.
The Wealth Wizard is available across stores and online platforms, including Amazon.
