AN inspirational drama featuring the tales of four young women is set to be filmed in the kingdom and may provide the encouragement to help young Bahrainis kick-start their future careers.
Bassam Al Thawadi, 46, who lives in Janabiya with his wife Dunia Al Wazzan, a jewellery designer, is credited for having made the first feature film of Bahrain – Al-Hajiz (The Barrier) in 1990.
Set during the Arab-Israeli war of 1967, this epic drama is both the personal story of a middle-class Bahraini family and an account of the hopes and faith the Arab world had in Jamal Abdul Nasser as its leader.
The plot revolves around Fatima, who is troubled by a vision of a mysterious person since her childhood.
Al-Hajiz (The Barrier), the movie deals with social and emotional barriers imposed upon individuals by society and also with those that the individual imposes upon himself.
