RHYTHM IS VITAL FOR A GOLFER

I OFTEN hear my students say such things as ‘I swung too quickly’ or ‘I need to slow my swing down’. I find this amusing – it’s like telling the world long driving champion to slow down, you don’t need to swing it that hard. I believe what people believe is swinging too fast is actually a lack of co-ordination or poor sequencing of the body segments.

I can’t remember which tour player told me that he used to hum throughout his swing and try and hold the same note throughout - if the humming changed a chord it meant he had sped up during the swing.
