A QUICK tip for all parents: your child’s lunchbox will be an indication of what he will eat for snacks in his adult years. So, if you want your child to choose wisely as a teenager and as an adult, then you should choose wisely for him now to start the healthy eating habit early.

With that in mind, what can you put in his lunchbox?

Instead of the usual white bread cheese sandwich, try a hummus sandwich with wholegrain bread. You can also add a boiled egg, a small corn on the cob and some raw almonds.

Why not also try adding some pitted black olives and a couple of soft dates as dessert? And, when in doubt, a few vegetable sticks are always popular.

Make the lunchbox colourful and exciting. You can add toothpicks or umbrella cocktail sticks that he can use to eat the olives. You can cut his sandwich with fun cookie-cutter shapes, or you can even add little stickers and notes that surprise him when he opens it up.

Make the healthy snack fun and you will create a healthy habit with a happy memory.
