SO it seems that it is that time of the year again. The time when we shut shop for all things fun and get geared up to venture into the great unknown that is school.

It’s unavoidable although it seems more like a chore after the wonderful lengthy vacation that we’ve all just had.

We’re already daydreaming of all the greener grasses and midnight movie marathons that had us falling asleep with the biggest smile on our faces.

\

In contrast, we are now dreading falling asleep knowing that we have to wake up once that alarm rings at 5am.

As much as I would love to stay in all day (especially in this heat) I know that the show must go on and, therefore, in order to help myself I must look forward to it.

As certain chapters close, such as the summer and my tenure at GulfWeekly, I am certain that there are an abundance of new ones waiting to be opened up such as a new scholastic year, the prospect of university, art and music shows, new week and weekend memories to make with friends … and many other possibilities.

Although it’s cliché to say ‘school days are the best days of your life’, I implore all young readers to make it count! Don’t get bogged down by the work you have to do, instead, enjoy the learning process.

And, more than anything, be aware of your surroundings. If there are new students, make them feel welcome. If someone is struggling, help them. Keep in mind what Leo Tolstoy once said: “The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity.”

So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye and, thank you, GulfWeekly!
