How disgusting to see the images of a cat dyed pink on sale in a cage at Isa Town Market posted on various social media sites over the weekend.
No doubt the seller thought the action would help make the animal more cute and sellable. In fact it just disgusted most people although it did the trick, he managed to sell it to an expat who wanted to save its life after seeing it panting for breath in the midday heat alongside other caged animals.
Why are animals allowed to be sold in this market, which has a terrible reputation for selling ill-treated domestic animals as well as wild species? Why in this civilised country are animals so mistreated and why does no-one in authority care?
What a shame, in more ways than one.
