Al Riwaq Art Space’s first solo exhibition by Bahraini artist Nader Alabbasi entitled ‘Social Alzheimer’ opens at 7pm and runs until December 8.

The work, through the medium of paint, photography and mixed-media, explores the ways and means of a society that finds ease in forgetting.

Tomorrow (November 26)
The Indian Club is staging a Tug-of-War competition, starting at 8pm, for teams of eight competing from 10-strong squads. Entry fee is BD10 per team with big cash prizes to play for. The winners will pull away with $300, runners-up $200, with third place securing $100.

“A Tug-of-War competition is always a great spectacle and a fun event for everyone involved, whether taking part or watching,” said the club’s general secretary Ashok Kumar T.S. “The last one we held, as part of the Onam celebrations, was very well attended and produced a great evening’s entertainment.

“I’m sure that this will be just as enjoyable, with, who knows, perhaps the added spice of a few ‘Onam scores’ being settled!”

The British School of Bahrain will be staging its annual International Family Fair at its campus in Hamala from 10am-3pm.

The event will feature stalls promoting the culture, cuisine and artistic diversity of its students, as well as an array of games, vendors and entertainment.

Saturday (November 28)
The BSPCA Thrift Shop Festive Fayre will be held at the Thrift Shop, Abu Saiba, from 2pm-5pm. Designer clothing, accessories and shoes, Christmas gifts and lots more will be on sale. All proceeds go towards funding the charity’s animal welfare centre.

The Early Learners Nursery in Saar will stage a festive fair from 10am-1pm. There will be games, face-painting, henna, a nail salon, balloon twister, popcorn, candy floss and a variety of stalls. There will also be a raffle.

Entry is free for children and 500 fils for adults.

World-renowned football trickster Tom Vegter will be performing in Bahrain today and tomorrow as he entertains fans with a series of tips and freestyle tricks.

He will perform at the Tekkers Football Academy event to be staged at the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) sporting facility during a two-day freestyle football camp.

The Bahrain Cancer Warriors and Cancer Crusaders are hosting a charity dinner at Mano’s Restaurant at the Rugby Club in Janabiya from 7.30pm.

The second monthly Bahrain Athletics time trial will take place at the National Stadium in Isa Town from 5.30pm. The competition will consist of Under 13s 60m and 800m, Under 15s and Under 17s 800m and 1500m, and 17+ 3000m. The Manama Singers will be staging its Christmas Around the World concert, directed by Leah Churchill, at the Movenpick Hotel Bahrain. Stage performances of the children’s classic The Jungle Book will take place at the Bahrain Cultural Hall. The timings are: Today – 8.45am and 10.45am; Monday – 8.45am, 10.40am and 12.30pm; Tuesday – 8.45am, 10.40am and 12.30pm, finishing on Dec 2 – 10am and 4.30pm.
