SUMMER HOLIDAYS aside, the one thing parents cannot ignore at this time is the pending new school year and being prepared before the annual stampede to the shops the week before the playground bell tolls.

Fortunately, leading stores are well equipped and ready to serve from this week. Children can confidently step into the school year in style with shiny new shoes and suitable clothing at Centrepoint, for example, one of the region’s largest fashion retailers.

The family-friendly store, under the Landmark Group umbrella (or sun shade may be more appropriate), has launched its back-to-school collection which includes backpacks, water bottles, pencil pouches and stationery in an array of attractive designs and at affordable prices.

Children can pay tribute to their favourite superheroes and princesses with Mothercare’s merchandise featuring characters from movies such as Superman, Batman, Minions, Frozen and Marie the Cat.

Keep books organised in character-themed backpacks that have been revamped into four new shapes making them chic and comfortable to carry. There are also insulated backpacks, stainless steel bottles and an array of spacious lunch boxes. Stationery items also include fun-shaped pencil rubbers, 3D hardcase pencil and pen boxes, as well as colourful gel pens and markers.

A set of Ferrari, Spiderman, Minions and Cars branded products are available for boys as well as a range of soccer club merchandise from clubs such as Spanish rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona as well as English Premiership giants Manchester City.

Mothercare’s Disney Princess Collection will score with the girls with products from Frozen, Hello Kitty, Marie the Cat and Sofia the First.

Lifestyle also has a fun array of backpacks, trolley bags, lunch bags, pencil pouches, notebooks and water bottles for pre-teens and older pupils.

Meanwhile, youngsters can feel sporty in a range of athletic brands including Jworld, Jansport, Sakroots, Minmei and Outsider in attractive prints and colours.

Children will look smart in a selection of black uniform shoes or cool in sporty white kicks from Shoe Mart. Parents can also opt for combo packs from leading brands like Puma and Kangaroos that include a pair of shoes, socks and backpack priced BD19.9 and BD29.9.

Marvel, Barbie and Disney are also joining the school run by imprinting children’s favourite characters such as Spiderman, Minnie, Elsa, Anna and Barbie on this season’s footwear.

Girls will feel pretty in floral accents, perforations, glaze-matt contrasts and embossed effects while boys will be spoiled for choice with a durable range of leather Velcro strap ultra-light shoes and white canvas sneakers.

The collection also highlights popular characters like Hello Kitty, Batman, Superman, Minions, Barbie and the Smiley range.
