IT’S time to swing on down to The Gulf Hotel Bahrain Convention & Spa to party … as well as swim and feast on a fabulous BBQ and dessert spread of deliciousness.

There’s no need to fly away on holiday this summer when all the pleasures of a tropical break can be found poolside in Adliya!

The hotel’s swimming pool and its palm trees and lush green landscaped gardens looked fabulous as the sun set and guests gathered for last weekend’s launch of ‘The Tropical Friday Nights by the Pool’ promotion.

And no party can be complete without fine fare, flowing beverages and the sounds of summer rhythms and on these fronts the Gulf Hotel has once again excelled itself.

Senior executive sous chef Anwar Gadber and executive pastry chef Daniel Lajoux and their teams delivered a superb spread of both hot and cold delights.

Highlights of the BBQ were the steaks, grilled chicken, burgers, lamb chops and Chef Anwar’s amazing take on Americano-style spiced sausages.

There were baked beans and potato wedges to accompany the pieces of meat but I preferred the calorie-cutting choice of salads which included a superb apple & cheddar chicken and a fabulous fresh fruit & barley offering.

The desserts were stunning and Chef Daniel has brought along some ideal refreshing and inventive delights to the table that he first discovered during a spell working in the Caribbean.

Check out the Pineapple meringue Meli Melo, a culinary masterpiece alongside the Peach Upside Down and the Coconut & Guava Turnover.

If that’s not enough, there’s a live crepe station, a selection of ice-creams from the freezer, chocolate brownies, banana fritters and even giant cookies in a jar on offer.

Many diners had packed their swimming costumes in a bag for the occasion and dipped into the pool to cool down in between courses.

But no party can be complete without music to capture the mood. Once again there were some special treats in store thanks to a talented act flown in from the Caribbean island nation of Cuba.

Top of the pops was a smashing summer twist to Ben E King’s soulful classic Stand by Me and the stunning girls who make up QBA Inside are sure to attract the crowds over the coming weeks in their own right with a sizzling set of up-tempo party beats.

Great food, great fun and well worth splashing out BD15 net per person including two rounds of beverages, starting from 6pm and finishing at midnight.
