Think Pink Bahrain is urging the community to join them on Saturday at the Bahrain International Circuit to kick off its annual breast cancer awareness campaign.

Every year the charity champions create fun and new ways to spread the life-saving message of early detection and prevention which could help women combat the disease.

This year, the fundraisers are launching a Longest Ribbon Challenge with the aim of breaking the world record for having the longest rosy-hued ribbon, as recently highlighted

in GulfWeekly.

Founder and chairman Jules Sprakel said: “It’s is an exciting project that will not only benefit the community but bring us all together at the same time!”

Supporters of the cause started purchasing pink ribbons, at BD1 a time, in February to tie into sections for the challenge. The sections have been added together to form one long strip to be carried by 1,000 people at the circuit in Sakhir.

“It’s our first national-scale community initiative with individuals and corporate entities participating together,” explained Jules. “The Supreme Council of Health and the National Health Regulatory Authority have not only endorsed the project but have been supporting the team too. The volunteer line closed as of Monday but everyone is welcomed to attend and enjoy the free fair.”

The #howfarforpink ribbon will be carried by volunteers at 4pm and the family fair will open with a bouncy castle, face-painting and music.

This is just the beginning for the campaigners as they will be staging a series of events in October, which is the official Breast Cancer Awareness Month around the world, aimed at raising further awareness and funds for its charitable endeavours.
