The kingdom’s popular shopping destination transformed its Central Galleria into a magical My Little Pony paradise with the cartoon’s colourful characters dancing and singing their way into the hearts of children from across the island.

The pretty four-legged ponies galloped all the way from Ponyville to entertain little ones at City Centre Bahrain and to share their core values of kindness, honesty, laughter, magic and generosity through story-telling and cool choreographed steps.

The Hasbro toy line and movie favourites Twilight, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie and lovable dragon friend, Spike, took centre stage during a three shows five-day blitz, jumping around and stomping their hoofs to upbeat tunes whilst children from all ages clapped and cheered for more.

The 20-minute-long performances, themed Pinkie Pie’s Emergency Party, showcased how friends can rally together and be there for one another.

The lovable cartoon characters have always had a positive influence on children from when the toy range was first developed in 1981 and appears to be as strong as ever today with spin-off TV shows, movies and, of course, theatrical stage performances.

In fact, they were created by Bonnie Zacherle, Charles Muenchinger and Steve D’Aguanno the very year this writer was born.

Although the current offerings have been revamped and the ponies appear much slender than they used to, they remain as charming and magical as ever.

Schoolgirl Talia Al Badarin, four, who lives in Reef Island, rushed to City Centre Bahrain with her baby brother, Yousef, and her friends Catherine Casey, five, and Meera Al Shaikhay, four.

The trio were dazzled by the ponies and were lucky enough to receive hugs after the show from Spike. In fact, all of the children had a chance to take group photos with the ponies and the fun continued at the Pony-fied station where children received colourful hair extensions, had their faces painted, nails polished and tattoos applied. They also joined together to colour pictures in the craft section.

Catherine’s mum Leizel Casey said: “City Centre is always doing such amazing events for children. Watching My Little Pony live was wonderful for the kids and they were star struck. My daughter them so much that we even held a My Little Pony-themed birthday party for her, handed out pony giveaways and enjoyed a pony-decorated cake!”
