There appears to be a cactus crisis currently in our desert kingdom with one of the Whisperer’s acquaintances reporting a series of sudden wilting plants. She said that her beautiful cactus which must have been 25 to 30 years old and ‘taller than the house’ suddenly collapsed. “There was no apparent reason why it should suddenly break,” she added, worryingly revealing that there were no termites spotted either and this had also happened to ‘two other friends’ trees within just a week or so’.

The Whisperer would welcome any explanations from green-fingered readers … and please let us know if your cactus has suffered a similar fate.
