Farrell confronted by accuser
Irish heartthrob Colin Farrell was confronted during filming for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno by the woman who last year accused the actor of stalking her.

Dessarae Bradford alleged that Farrell bombarded her with explicit phonecalls and text messages, but she subsequently failed a lie detector test on a US TV show. When Bradford jumped out of the audience and approached Farrell, many people thought it was a comedy sketch but when it became clear Bradford was a threat, security staff quickly removed her from the studio. An audience member tells Access Hollywood, Bradford shouted at Farrell, “I’ll see you in court!” To which he replied, “You’re insane!”

Osment recovering from car crash
The Sixth Sense star Haley Joel Osment is recovering in a California hospital after suffering from a fracture to his right rib, right shoulder and lacerations to his body after a car crash. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the actor lost control of his Saturn station wagon on a winding street near La Canada Flintridge. He crashed into a brick mailbox, causing the car to roll onto its roof. The 18-year-old was the only person in the vehicle. Investigators say he was not wearing a seat-belt. Osment’s agent disputes those claims, saying he did have his seat-belt on, but when the airbags in the car deployed, he undid it so that he could get out of the vehicle as he crawled in the back to get out. Witness on the scene described the actor as being “seriously banged up.”

Hudson wins “eating disorder” libel case
Kate Hudson has won a massive payout from the British edition of the National Enquirer after the publication falsely accused the naturally thin actress of having an eating disorder. Almost Famous star Hudson was described as “painfully thin” by the magazine last year, which also reported that her mother Goldie Hawn had begged her to eat more. However, after a successful libel case, the star was awarded undisclosed damages for any distress the article may have caused, and granted an apology.

Abrams confirms Star Trek movie
Mission: Impossible III director J J Abrams has confirmed he’s set to save the Star Trek franchise after signing on to produce the next film in the sci-fi series. The 40-year-old Lost and Alias creator, who is a long-time fan of the cult TV show and subsequent movies, is considering directing the new Trek movie too. In an exclusive interview with America’s TV Guide magazine, Abrams says, “It’s sort of surreal but wonderful. I’m producing and may direct. I have every DVD of every Star Trek episode from every series. I haven’t seen every episode from every series but I certainly know it well enough to be working on the movie.” Abrams will team up with fellow Star Trek buff and Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof on the new project.

“I’m no stalker” says Cusack fan
The woman ordered to stay away from John Cusack has denied she is stalking the star, insisting she only sent the actor two letters. Emily Leatherman, 31, was ordered by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to stay 500 feet away from Cusack, his home, workplace, vehicle or any place where he does business. Cusack, 40, claimed Leatherman had stalked him for over 18 months, during when she threw “long letters of interest over my fence in bags with rocks and screwdrivers inside.” In court papers, Cusack said Leatherman had “threatened to commit acts of violence against herself if I do not help her.”

Clooney and Soderbergh separate
George Clooney and producing partner Steven Soderbergh have decided to close down their Section Eight production company, which they founded six years ago. The star will officially part ways with Soderbergh on August 1 to launch Smoke House, a production company he is forming with his Good Night, And Good Luck collaborator Grant Heslov. Section Eight will continue to produce Clooney’s upcoming movies, including Ocean’s Thirteen and The Good German, both directed by Soderbergh.
