BD25.7 million twin tower project

A new BD25.7 million twin tower office building and car park is to be built at the site of the Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel, Residence and Spa, officials announced.

The National Hotels Company’s (NHC) 75,000 square metre project will consist of two 30-storey office towers joined together by a lift above a seven-floor car park for 650 vehicles.
NHC chairman Faisal Al Zayani said the company, which also own the Diplomat, had employed Malaysia-based Chase Perdana Berhad to carry out the design and construction work.
The agreement was recently signed by Mr Al Zayani and Chase Perdana Berhad executive chairman Dr Mohan Swami at a ceremony held at the Diplomat.
The Diplomat Commercial Office Tower will contain 30,000sqm of lateral office space and the interior will be designed by each client, said NHC chairman Faisal Al Zayani at the event.
He said the building, which would be located in a section of the hotel’s existing car park, would offer simple amenities because the vision was for clients to use the full facilities at the hotel. The chairman said the first ground will be broken at the end of the year and the whole project will take 30 months to complete.
“This is an important milestone in the transformation of the whole development,” explained Mr Al Zayani. “The NHC started with the Diplomat Hotel and the vision of the chairman at that time was for it to become a comprehensive real estate development.
“We have now completed the apartments and we are making a health spa and the third project was the office building.”
Mr Al Zayani said BD800,000 would also be spent on upgrading the facade of the Diplomat to match the design style of the new developments.
Chase Perdana Berhad general manager Ranjeet Singh said this was the first project for the company in Bahrain.
He said the building design had been developed by his company and would be refined with the assistance of local consultants Mohamed Salahuddin Engineering Consulting Bureau.
