Author Robert Ludlum (right) created the super-agent Jason Bourne in 1980, when he introduced him in the novel The Bourne Identity.
Ludlum went on to write two more Bourne novels, Bourne Supremacy and Bourne Ultimatum before he died on March 12, 2001. Ludlum (b. May 25, 1927) has written 29 novels which have sold more than 210 million copies; they have been translated into 32 languages. Apart from the Bourne trilogy some of his other famous books are: The Osterman Weekend, The Icarus Agenda and The Holcroft Covenant. Ludlum also published books under the pseudonyms Jonathan Ryder and Michael Shepherd.
