Daughters of the Dust takes place at the turn of the century in 1902. It chronicles two very pivotal days in the life of the Peazant family, descendants of slaves who reside on islands near South Carolina and Georgia as the younger Peazants decide to cross over to the mainland in search of a new life for the family. The film was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival.
