Many of you have read Asma Salman's excellent recent article on the advantages of the IB diploma for some students in comparison to traditional A levels.
Well, since joining an IB course I am happy to report that although it involves a whole lot of work, it has been worth every dinar my dad has paid.
However, trying to get lab and project hours done in the kingdom is one huge dilemma that many face because of a lack of resources.
This year, my classmates and I at the Modern Knowledge School are planning to finish many necessary lab hours in Cyprus as we are able to find useful resources and projects to get on with there.
The next challenge is funding. We are planning to set up a stand that readers can visit on December 8 at the MKS Carnival. In our stand we will be offering a wide variety of food items including candy, baked goods and cookies.
One of the main features of our stand will be an anonymous service in which people will be able to send gifts to whoever they would like, and they could also add a message with it.
There will also be henna painting and other body art. In addition, there will be a traditional Bahraini-themed seating area where people can play card/board games, relax and enjoy the occasion.
Furthermore, to help all my classmates raise enough funds to go to Cyprus, the IB fund-raising committee will be looking for a sponsor that would be able to help us with raising the funds.
In return, we will highlight the company and its work during the carnival and in Cyprus. Remember almost 1,000 people are expected to attend the carnival, a major community event in Bahrain, which will be held on our school premises on December 8. Those interested in sponsoring please contact the head of the committee by email on alyaa.alkhadhar@gmail.com or call 39695312.
