A debt of gratitude

Earlier this week, I put on my best white shirt and flashy red tie, wore this great blue graduation cloak and of course like all teenage boys styled up my hair with gel and headed out to the Gulf Hotel for my graduation ceremony were I was to receive my IGCSE certificate.

It was fun seeing all my friends and teachers again after six months of separation, however, what really made my day complete was the look my father had on his face when I received my certificate from Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Nizar Sadiq Al Baharna.

His eyes were filled with pride and happiness.

After receiving my certificate I sat back in my seat and scanned the room filled with all those people who were involved in the graduation.

Those I noticed first were my teachers whose faces were filled with joy after seeing 10 years worth of blood, sweat and tears of the students who were receiving their secondary education awards.

To my teachers, past and present, I bow before you and thank you on behalf of my class.

I would also like to thank God almighty for all the success we have had all over the years.

To my father, you will never imagine how much gratitude I owe you, I will try to spend the rest of my life thanking you but I know that it will never be enough to cover all the effort and help that you have given me and my brother.

Last but not the least I want to thank my late mother who over the years was the one who was always beside me comforting and guiding me.

I now only pray that you are in your safe haven looking down on me and will continue guiding me throughout my life.

To my young readers: if you would do one thing over this weekend, find at least five minutes to thank your parents who will, always and forever, be the guardian angels of your lives.
