The Inchcape Shipping team won the 2nd Annual Shaikh Faisal Memorial Golf Tournament in aid of Bahrain Mobility International (BMI) and played at His Majesty King Hamad's golf course in Safriya.

The event was a resounding success, raising in excess of BD50,000 in sponsorship alone, with Riffa Views being the title sponsor.

The event was played in a Team Betterball Stableford format, with teams of four being spilt into two pairs, who then combined their score at the end of play.

Inchcape Shipping comprising Brandon Smith, Clinton Evans, Joseph Femino and Madhu Gopinath finished on top with a team score of 88 points.

Runners-up were Project System Group 1 with 87 points and comprising Jim Porter, Gino Gizzi, Najib Khan and Marco Cantoni, while third place went to Peter Mutti, Mohamed Ali, Sassan Sarkoob and Mohamed Al Sayed, who represented ICAP2 and had a total of 85 points.

Gulf Air sponsored a daily Nearest the Pin Prize on the 6th hole, which was won by Hussain Salem (Day 1); Abdulla Sultan (Day 2) and Arun Varma (Day 3). Each of the winners received an invitation to fly a Boeing 767 on the Gulf Air Training Flight Simulator.

A Mini Cooper Cabrio, which was up for grabs for the '1st Hole in One' of the tournament on the second hole and sponsored jointly by Euro Motors and AXA Insurance, went unclaimed.

A further BD1,850 was raised by virtue of a par three shootout contest on the 7th hole, sponsored by Project System Group, where players had the chance to make a charity donation which gave them a chance to hit the green with their tee shot. Successful entrants' names were put into a hat to win prizes sponsored by Project System Group.

Winners of this competition were Rob Lane, Abdul Fakro, Tony James, Barry Hobday and Des Prunty.

With the final total still to be calculated, the event has surpassed last year's effort and BMI thanked all sponsors, players and organisers for their marvellous collective effort.
