Wednesday (April 16)¥ A two-day workshop for aspiring DJs and producers from Bahrain will be held in Level today and tomorrow. Special guest for the workshop will be Marco Passarani, an Italian DJ-producer and Red Bull Music Academy (RBMA) in Barcelona lecturer.

Sixty beat makers and selectors will gather in Barcelona later this year to pick up ideas and exchange information with music makers of all ages.

Interested applicants can download a form from www.redbullmusicacademy. com and send the completed questionnaire along with a CD with the own DJ mix, or a production of their music with a current photo before the deadline date on May 5.

The workshop at Level begins at 3pm.

Thursday (April 17)

¥ Chaine des Rotisseurs members will be greeted by a band, dancers, torches, music and costumes of Arabia at the guild's dinner at the Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain, Hotel and Spa.

With the theme '1,001 Nights,' 10 gazebos will be erected in the foyer of the Ritz's Ghazal Ballroom.

Each gazebo will house a table of six which will surround a stage in the centre where entertainers will perform during the dinner event, creating a sort of elegant encampment.

Outdoors, an Arabic ensemble will play melodies of the Middle East, with a falcon amusing guests arriving at the event.

The six-course dinner has been devised by executive chef Holger Jackisch, featuring contemporary Middle Eastern cuisine.

Friday (April 18)

¥ The Urban Desert 2008 festival will take place at the Dubai Festival City. It will feature well-known artists such as Grammy award nominee Akon, Fat Joe and Black Violin. ¥ The Indian Ladies Association (ILA) will host a food festival - 'Amidst Flavours - Zaike Ka Safar' at the Indian Club in Manama on April 18 from 4pm onwards. The festival will mark different New Year celebrations of various Indian communities including Baisakhi, Vishu, Bihu, Ugadi, Nowroz, Gudi Padva, Chetichand, Tamil New Year, Bengali New Year and Al Hijri New Year. The event will also showcase home-cooked delicacies. Groups of five ladies can register under the banner of any one chosen state. Tables can be book at BD15 for members and BD20 for non-members. ¥ Pianist Nataly Tudoise and Opera singer Cornlieu Tudoise will perform at the La Fontaine Centre for Contemporary Art in Manama at 8pm. The concert will be performed at the moon courtyard and will have another performance on April 25. Ticket is priced at BD 10 for concert only and BD18 for dinner inclusive. Saturday (April 19)

¥ The Bahrain Jewellery Centre presents the 'Shakespeare 4 Kidz' production of Hamlet at the Palm Hall in the Bahrain Exhibition Centre in Sanabis. The play will have two shows - matinee at 11.30am and an evening show at 5.30pm.

The show will star Paul Parris as Hamlet, Jason Lee Scott as Claudius, Pippa Jeronimo as Gertrude and Antony Stuart-Hicks as Polonius.

¥ The third Gulf Jazz Festival Bahrain will be held at La Fontaine Centre of Contemporary Art in Manama at 8pm. Performing at the event 'A Night for Astor' will be the Nuevo Tango Ensamble (Italy) featuring Gianni Iorio - bandoneon, Pasquale Stafano - pianoforte and Alessandro Terlizzi - contrabbasso. The trio has been presenting the project of tango-jazz titled 'A night for Astor', with Piazzolla's composition played with jazz improvisations. Doors open at 7pm. Monday (April 21)

¥ Maison Jamsheer is presenting 'Talking Pictures - Bahraini Architecture in the Eye of Future Architects', an exhibition by University of Bahrain Students at the Bahraini French Cultural Centre at the Maison Jamsheer in Muharraq. The photographs of the students will be displayed until April 26. A group of Bahraini students in architecture lead by Dr. Ali Al Raouf will exhibit more than 30 photographs highlighting the heritage and future of Bahrain.

Maison Jamsheer is open from Saturday to Thursday from 9am to 2pm and from 4pm to 8pm and a coffee shop on the terrace will provide the visitors snacks and beverages.
