Dear Stan, I need your help to find my lost cat. It really is a painful thing not to have him!

My six-month-old grey tabby called Skuddy is an adorable creature, loves cat biscuits and has lovely black paws.

He is very friendly and would come running if called by his name. He's more than a family member and we miss him so much. I live close to the Al Hilal building on Exhibition Road. If any GulfWeekly reader spots Skuddy please call 39775225.

Best regards,

Shree

Dear Stan,

Today's teachers are assuming considerably more responsibility for meeting the educational needs of students with diverse learning needs.

Teachers identify students with special needs as their greatest challenges, unfortunately most general education teachers feel at a loss as to how to educate these students. They are eager to provide appropriate instruction yet often feel inadequately prepared to do so.

A two-day conference will be held at Royal University for Women on May 1 and 2 along with an optional extra training day for schools, parents and interested parties.

It will be open to preschool, elementary, middle and secondary teachers and school administrators in public and private schools. Ministry officials, parents and other interested parties are also encouraged to attend.

The central theme of this conference is that teachers and schools can make a difference in the lives of all students, particularly students with special needs by using specific tools and strategies that have been proven to benefit all children in the classroom.

This conference will offer basic knowledge, tools and strategies that will empower teachers to skillfully, confidently and successfully promote learning for all students especially those with special needs.

It will also provide parents and concerned others with hope and networking to assist them in finding the support they need to help their child succeed in schools, community and the workplace.

If you are interested in attending please visit www.ruw.edu.bh or call 3647-7656 (English); 3934-2907 (Arabic). It is sure to be a stimulating three days.
