This week I would like to raise the issue of drink-driving.
Last week, my best friend and his two younger siblings were on their way to school when they were suddenly hit by a car that was speeding and lost control.
Thankfully none of them were seriously hurt but when my friend stepped out of the car to speak to the other driver, he clearly noticed that the Bahraini driver was seriously under the influence of alcohol.
It is hard to image the stupidity and irresponsibility of someone who would get behind the wheel of a car after a heavy night's drinking who thinks that by 6am he would fine to drive.
I could have easily lost another person in my life due to someone who was only thinking of himself and not about other people.
I do not have the capacity and ability to change the way adults behave but perhaps this newspaper can help influence the way people view this issue and become more aware of the dangers of drinking and driving.
Please, do not get in a car while you are under the influence.
Remember, even if you think that your destination is only few blocks away, the reality is that while you are driving under the influence so anything can happen.
In my opinion you are guilty of attempted murder the moment you start the engine of your car while you are drunk.
