¥ Singing Signs courses begins on May 7 at 9am and will take place every Wednesday for four weeks. It will be followed with a second course beginning on June 14. ¥ An art exhibition will be held at the British School Bahrain's new premises in Hamala on May 22. Twenty-five students will be exhibiting their work - 17 at GCSE and eight at A-Level.
The main themes for this year will be Links and Connections, Transition and Barriers and the paintings will be a mixture of representational, semi abstract and abstract work including portraiture, the figure, video art, wire sculpture, installation and painting. Notable pieces at the exhibition will be MTV animated 'shorts', a wake for a rag doll, large-scale gloss-paint 'suspects' portraits, farmyard chic, plasticised portraiture and obsessive collections of the macabre. ¥ The Young Goans Club will host its annual May Queen contest on May 22 at the Marina Club poolside in Manama. The event is only by invitation and begins at 8.30pm. The contest is open for women of all nationalities aged between 15 and 28.The event will feature a fashion show featuring eight models and entertainment will be provided by cover band Aryan Fame alongside a DJ from Music and Lights.

¥ Coca-Cola's fifth annual treasure hunt will be held on May 23 to raise public awareness on environmental issues such as water shortages, pollution, reclamation of land and its effect on marine life, beach pollution, and desertification. Teams will compete to solve clues, leading them along a pre-determined map route to a range of locations. For details contact 17226775.
¥ The American Women's Association (AWA) is hosting its Annual Spring Bazaar on May 24 at the Bapco Club in Awali. The event, which began in 1992, will showcase a number of craft items.
This year marks the AWA's 11th spring fundraising event.
Some of the commercial businesses of today were non-crafting participants testing the market to see if the items they were selling were popular and profitable enough to sustain a business.
Table prices will range from BD6 to BD30 and the event will be held from 1pm to 6pm.
Entry is 500fils and proceeds from the event will be used towards the AWA's various community service projects.

¥ The Indian Club in Manama is set to host the May Queen Ball 2008 on May 29. Women of all nationalities aged between 15 and 28 can take part for the competition.
Last date for registration is May 10 and the fee is BD2.
All contestants will go through a grooming session to be conducted by show choreographer Shamima Noorani.
The contest will consist of three rounds on the catwalk. There will be prizes for the winner, first and second runners-up as well as the winners of the Best Smile, Best Hairdo and Best Model.
