Palmerie Boutique featuring authentic Moroccan clothing has opened its doors in the Umm Al Hassam district.
The store is displaying clothing and shoes handpicked and perfected by Moroccan designer Lamyaa Meniaoui.
She said: "I have been a resident of Bahrain for some years now and I believe there is a demand for Moroccan designs
"I think women of the region will be attracted to the clothing line as it is beautifully designed, colourful but remains conservative. Gulf women who have a discerning eye and an appreciation for quality will be captivated by these traditional and rich designs."
The boutique exhibits a collection of more than 200 dresses, ranging from Jalabea's that can be worn with jeans to Takchita's or formal evening wear for wedding parties and social events.
Palmerie also offers a clothing line suitable for everyday use and a collection of jewellery from the French accessory company Zedes Monte Carlo. There are also accessories such as belts, handbags and pocket books for the working woman.
If Lamyaa's initiative proves success she hopes to expand in Bahrain and may consider opening branches across the Gulf states.
