Cue the catchy theme chant, Jeff Probst's latest band of fame-and-fortune-seeking castaways are ready to try their hands at outwitting, outplaying and outlasting in the 17th installment of the hit series Survivor this year titled Survivor: Gabon - Earth's Last Eden which premieres on September 19 at 8pm on Showseries.

The latest castaways will be preparing to battle it out for a million dollars in the ultimate of reality TV shows and Showtime viewers can catch all the action just hours after it happens in the US.

Survivor: Gabon, which will feature 18 castaways living in the wilderness in the West African country, will be filmed in high-definition.

It's the first time the competitive reality series has returned to Africa since its Kenya-set third season.

"Everyday millions of people go about their familiar routines with friends and family in safe surroundings. But this September, 18 of them will be thrust into a land beyond their wildest imagination," said the show's host Jeff Probst.

Located in equatorial Africa, Gabon is one of the world's last remaining sanctuaries of pure, untouched wilderness. The culture of Gabon reflects the beauty of this ancient land, with rituals and dances as pure today as they were generations ago.

Gabon is the only place on the planet where surfing hippos ride the waves and elephants roam with gorillas as leopards keep watch.

Eighteen Americans will be caught in the midst of nature's fierce battle for survival as they live among some of the world's most dangerous animals.

In true Survivor fashion, it looks as though this year's contestants will face even more gruelling challenges than the last with endless surprises.

Don't miss all the action from September 19 at 9pm exclusively on Showseries.
