Hi everyone! Welcome to my weekly ramblings! Well, this week I have a message going out to all Bahrain's talented youth (those actually under the age of 18 and not just the young at heart; like me). The message is to send me the details of any bands you are in or any solo acts you perform. Because I have some exciting news for you... on the TV Show that I present weekly, 'Music Mania', we are going to have a segment called 'Bahrain's Talent' and we are looking for any bands that have been formed or anyone who can hold a tune to come on the show, do their thing and perform.
We've teamed up with those great people from Room 2 Rock, which is where everybody participating will be filmed performing their act. We'll have prizes, one of which will be a recording session - which I will definitely play on my radio show. Other prizes will be announced on the show.
I've got to tell you that 'Music Mania' is filmed for Bahrain's own Channel 55 which is beamed over satellite to half the world! I regularly get emails from Ethiopia, Germany and the UK just to name a few. If you want to become involved please drop me an email at bahrainstalent@gmail.com.
I thought of this idea while watching other shows from around the world and I just know that Bahrain is also brimming full of talented youngsters; so why not have a platform to show them off. But now it's up to you. If you would like to join us on the programme get your email in to me along with a brief bio about yourself and a description of what you play or sing.
The winner will be chosen by the public. But there won't be a charge to phone in or anything like that. Quite simply the act that receives the most votes emailed in to me at bahrainstalent@gmail.com will be the winner.
Going back to my childhood, I wish that I had learnt to play an instrument. However I was only interested in playing football and being outdoors. I could never have handled being stuck inside and having piano or violin lessons. But perhaps it's not too late for me to learn, anyone out there prepared to teach me? Ha! I think I could be good playing the spoons!
Actually I have one instrument that I could use and that's my voice. My dad used to say that if I could sing even half as well as him I'd be a hit! Or, was it that he'd give me a hit? Something like that anyway.
