THE new Porsche 911 was launched in Bahrain this week with an action packed show which had guests gasping.
The country's brand manager at Behbehani Bros, Anthony Raymond, used everything from acrobats to a mad scientist to demonstrate how the new Porsche will be funkier, faster and, dare I say it, even greener with improved fuel consumption and decreased carbon emissions.
The new 911 Carrera went on show at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre for the first time and Mr Raymond said more than 300 models will be delivered in Bahrain this year, double the figure of two years ago.
The Carrera and Carrera 4 boast flat-six 3.6 litre powerplant fuel injection which develops 345 bhp, a total of 20 bhp more than before. And the Carrera S and 4S, with a 3.8 litre engine, is up by 30 bhp to 385 bhp, bringing scintillating performance beyond the 300 km/h mark.
Fuel consumption is down on the new models and they are the first Porsche production cars to boast PDK transmission in which seven gears shift electrohydraulically without any interruption to traction, power and pulling force.
And the Carrera 4 now features Porsche Traction Management which is able to convert the superior power and torque into powerful acceleration and handling under all driving conditions.
Mr Raymond said: "Porsche engineers have done a fine job to make an already wonderful car and even more enjoyable drive. The new features of the Carrera range take this legendary nameplate to an even higher level."
