This week has been a momentous one in the Krazy household! It was my wife Wendy's birthday on Sunday. She is almost exactly the same age as that other Australian Diva; Kylie Minogue! She's even more gorgeous though and I will tell you all about her birthday surprises later.

I had good fun at the opening of the 'Old Irish Village' on Thursday night, with a great group of people from the Irish Society attending, including Edel, the chairwoman, and Gavin and Mary. Helping out with a successful and entertaining evening was Christopher Delaney, flown in especially all the way from Ireland to provide the entertainment.

I'm looking forward to the Irish Gaelic Games coming up this weekend where I'll be on Friday afternoon from 2pm through til 4pm, along with some Irish dancers and the gang from Chaoss.

It's going to be a fantastic weekend full of sport and music.

Talking of sports, I was lucky enough to be invited by Paul Blunt from the 'Lost Paradise of Dilmun' to take part in the Par 3 Tournament at the newly-opened 'Royal Golf Course' at Riffa Views.

I was marked down to play with New Zealand golf professional Michael Campbell (who has won the US Open Golf Championship) so I was naturally feeling a little bit nervous. But, when I arrived, the plans had been changed, and I played with my 'old mate' Sir Steve Redgrave.

I first met Steve a few years ago when we were both in a pro-celebrity race at the BIC and he and Garth Tander actually won.

When I met him again he said: "I hope your golf is better than your driving!" I had to be honest and replied: "No!" We had a fun time on the short course along with two other players, Chris and Ahmed.

Straight after the golf I rushed home to get ready for the ECC Annual Dinner Dance at the Dilmun Club.

The night was a great success and during the raffle the Reverend Alan Hayday came up to receive a prize and said as he did, that "I never win raffles".

But, no sooner had he sat back down in his seat ,than up he jumped back up to return and collect another prize. Well done, Alan and never say never, again!

So, onto Saturday and the special surprise that was awaiting Wendy! If you are a regular reader of my column you will know that she rather hates surprises, so I had to tread very carefully.

I would like to thank two lovely people who were integral to the secret (Rachel and Bob who had to pick up a special birthday cake made by the Intercontinental Regency Hotel at the last minute).

Our guests started arriving from 3pm onwards and Wendy twigged almost immediately that I was throwing a party for her. When nearly everyone was there I brought the cake in and we sang Happy Birthday. Then it was time for my BIG surprise.

I had prepared an envelope with a letter inside it which I told Wendy to read aloud. It said, "Pack your bags because 7 years ago we went to Sri Lanka for our honeymoon and we're going again on December 4, but not by ourselves - we're taking Hannah Ruby, our daughter, and her grand-dad and granny from Australia with us!

Wendy was dumbstruck, and I thought: "Oh No, what's coming? Will I get shouted at, or worse". But no, when she stopped looking for a punchline and realised it was not some kind of weird joke she was so very happy. And the looks on my in-laws faces made the surprise well worth the effort.

To round off the weekend we all went down to the 'Lost Paradise of Dilmun' water park and had a great time.

I even dragged Wendy onto the Boomerango and together we shot off, up, and down at great speed. What a great way to celebrate our anniversary (which was on the 15th) and Wendy's birthday too. And oh, and did I mention that she turned the big '4 0'.

Till next week, keep happy
