The second weekend in October proved to be another significant milestone in the continuing evolution of the Arabian Celts Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) Club.

The GAA is the organisation which oversees the development, administration and management of Ireland's national sports throughout the world. Irelands' national sports are Gaelic football, hurling, handball and rounders.

That weekend saw the Arabian Celts, a team composed of players from Bahrain and the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, compete in the Asian Gaelic Games for the first time.

The Arabian Celts had a good run until the final where they were pitted against age old rivals, Dubai Celts 'B'. Alas, the Arabian Celts luck ran out as Dubai won the game.

The Bahrain Gaelic Games take place this Friday at Bahrain Rugby Club and will attract players and officials from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Oman and Qatar.

The Arabian Celts, have been training hard under the stewardship of coach and manager, Tommy Smith, and will be looking to retain the trophy that they won after an epic extra-time win over Dubai last year.

Further information on Gaelic football can be obtained from Peter Finnegan, chairman, Arabian Celts GAA Club on 39795750.
