Gulf Weekly YOUNG ROCKERS ON TRACK FOR SUCCESS!

A PASSIONATE band of teenage rockers have set out the soundtrack for a short film and are in the process of recording their first demo album of original songs.

Adamant Eve, described by music critics as 'metalcore marvels' and 'the band to watch out for in 2009', is made up of teenage pupils of The Indian School, Bahrain.

The reputation of the youngsters - lead/rhythm guitarist and growler Anthony Muthurajah, 16, bassist Alexander Savio Rodrigues, 15, lead and rhythm guitarist Gautham Babu, 15, singer and rhythm Vishal Mirchandani, 16, and drummer Aaron Jijo Paul, 17 - is growing across the kingdom, so much so that leading cultural society Elham has invited the schoolboys to perform an acoustic set at one of its monthly gatherings.

Young rock sensations Adamant Eve started recording in September and meet, when funds allow, at every opportunity at the Room2Rock studio in Hamala.

Singer and rhythm Vishal Mirchandani, from Gudaibya, said: "We go on the spot and record. It's a risk - there is little room for mistakes - but it's a challenge we are willing to meet.

"Recording is a whole new experience but we have kept on practicing and managed to get four songs down and I am sure we will be able to finish the remaining numbers soon."

Once the band finishes half a dozen songs it hopes to attract enough sponsorship with the help of the Elham cultural society and other fans to finish an 11-track album.

Lead and rhythm Gautham Babu, from Manama, said: "We are hopeful - we are getting some positive signals."

The band members have played in various schoolboy groups and have won several music competition prizes between them. They started jamming together and last summer decided to take the giant music step forward by creating a band performing original material.

Gautham said: "We used to sit and jam together at Anthony's place which helped create superb band chemistry. We somehow knew we would one day develop our own material."

Drummer Aaron Jijo added: "We wondered how long we would go on playing other people's songs. We felt that we had the talent and we had to make something productive out of our time together rather than just let it waste away."

Bassist Alex Rodrigues explained: "We used to meet every day and show each other what we had come up with and compile it all together to make the music."

The band's first song was inspired by one day's rigorous gaming on a PlayStation. Vishal said: "We got inspired by one game in particular. It drove us into a frenzy and we thought let's make a soundtrack in honour of the game. It turned into a full song and we ended up recording it."

The track is entitled Hell on Earth and other numbers include Look To You, Voice of a Lost Soul and an instrumental called Sudden Rush which the youngsters believe are an insight into serious issues the world faces today including different ways of life and extremes such as terrorism and political upheaval.

The boys initially came up with several names for the band before settling on the current one which symbolises their aim for the future.

Anthony said: "People often mistake it for being 'Adam and Eve' and they shoot us with questions on why we named an all-boy band with a girl's name.

"Adamant Eve - suggested by a friend - to us, means waiting for a new beginning."

The band is looking forward to taking part in competitions, performing live at gigs throughout the kingdom and releasing their first album.

Fan Vijesh Rajan, a copywriter with Gulf Marcom advertising agency, said: "I think they're a bundle of talent. There aren't many hardcore or metal core acts in Bahrain so they definitely score high on the 'big fish in a small pond' scenario. But, you must add that to the fact that they are all brilliant musicians and play their hearts out giving total justice to the gentre of music that they find their roots in."

Author and columnist Ali Al Saeed, a founder member of Elham, added: "Adamant Eve is an exciting band and has made an impressive start. We look forward to seeing a lot more of the boys in 2009. At Elham we like to encourage original talent and showcase their work."

Lead/rhythm guitarist and growler Anthony Muthurajah, from Segaiya, said: "Ali got in touch with me and said he liked our music and asked us to prepare a demo album. So far we have recorded three songs with vocals and one instrumental track."
