Cup of joy for Bobs Yer Uncle

BOBS Yer Uncle clinched the His Majesty King Hamad Cup in style while Golias bagged the Bahrain Gold Cup at Sakhir in two the richest events of the horse racing season.

Bobs Yer Uncle, owned by Al Nasseriyeh and trained by Alan Smith, beat Cynamon by one-and-one-fourth-length to win the King's Cup for Group One locally bred horses with a cash prize of BD20,000.

Golias, owned by Al Nasseriyeh, trained by Alan Smith and ridden by Gerald Avranche, pipped Mukhber by a short head to win the Bahrain Gold Cup, sponsored by Kuwait Finance House, Bahrain, for Group One imported horses which also carried a cash prize of BD20,000.

Al Jellaby 1268, owned by Al Wasmiya, trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti and ridden by Ali Al Saffar, won the King's Cup for Group Two Arabian horses which carried a cash prize of BD5,000.

Al Jellaby 1268 beat Rabdaan 1170 by one-and-half-length.

Mr Grand Lodge caused the only upset of the day beating Grand Prix by two lengths to win the Al Methaq Cup for Group Three imported horses which carried a cash prize of BD3,500.

Mr Grand Lodge is owned by Bahrain Racing Syndicate, trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti and was ridden by Hassan Al Saffar.
