St Christopher's Cathedral is organising its fifth Charity Wheelathon at Bahrain International Circuit, Sakhir, on Friday.

Interested participants can bring any kinds of wheels including bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards and wheelchairs.

The event will also have a hospital bed race between 1pm and 2pm. Interested teams can contact the organisers today to participate. Team members can dress up in their choice of costumes for the bed race.

Participants raising a minimum BD10 (adult) and BD2 (children) will be able to wheel around the prestigious Formula 1 track at the Bahrain International Circuit.

Prizes will be awarded to individuals and schools which raise the highest levels of sponsorship.

Prizes include a Gulf Air ticket to Europe and for children tickets to the Adhari Park, go-karting at the BIC, golf lessons and gift vouchers from Carousel.

Proceeds of the event will be shared with local charities supporting disadvantaged children and athletes.

Registration begins at 2.30pm and the official start of the race is at 3pm.

Cycle helmets are advised and all children aged under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

On-site medical facilities will be provided by the American Mission Hospital. The family area will have entertainment, refreshments, music, bouncy castle and balloon twister.
